The drumming help personal skill development and confident develop our creative mind for music and entertainment.
Students will learn the technique of tone slap and base and learn tempo, rhythms and melody.
The drumming workshop will be divided into different stages as Beginners to Intermediate and Advanced
Stage 1 Beginner:
History of Traditional drumming:
The African Drumming is the mother of all World music; people have used drums for thousand of years in Africa.
1. The purpose and use of drums.
2. How to make your own African drums.
3. How to use your hands on drums. (Body Position).
4. To learn about Techniques, The skills of drumming and how to beat the drum with hand movement (Percussion Up and Down).
Stage 2 Intermediate:
1. To learn about Body Meditation, quieten your mind, concentration and focus.
2. To learn about African traditional Rhythms.
3. To learn about Tempo.
4. To learn about melody and create melody.
Stage 3 Advanced:
1. To learn about drumming with a group of drummers, for example thousand drummers at the same time,
2. To learn/experience performing on stage.
3. To learn and experience about performance with a singer and dancers
Please note:
• The school will provide space and chairs.
• There is minimum health and safety risk involve with drums and drumming.
• Identify students with hearing problem for loud noise.
• At the beginning of drumming, students may experience some pain in their hands for some time but the pain will stop in time.
West African Dancing workshop:
African dancing is very much an energetic movement of all body parts the movement are steps and jamming jumping with tempo of the rhythm of drums.
The performance on stage with a singer singing in tempo and rhythm accompanied with rhythm, slow movement with singer for the first half and then second half for fast movement of the body until the end of the tune.
African dance is no different to jazz or contemporary dance in the sense that the dancer needs to learn a particular technique and practice to become good at it. Training is a very important part of the daily routines of professional dancers.
West African dance is gaining recognition as a performing art in Europe and also in Africa. The dances have become a source of inspiration to performers outside Africa and as more African dance groups’ travel out of Africa to perform.
One day workshop in school:
• A solid floor provide by the school.
• There will be one dance teacher for a class.
• The Artist will provide music and equipment.
• Every 40 minutes there will be break for 10 minutes
• We need to know how many students for the workshop.
• From one ,two and group performances with 20plus drumming.
• Booking for hours, days, weeks and ongoing projects.
• Cost may vary - £170
