Welcome to Gambian Arts & Culture Exchange Wales

Current & Past Projects

Pupils who attend our workshops are introduced to our comprehensive steps of carving that include subjects matters such as tools, materials, techniques, finishing and safety while carving.

In our workshops we encourage the imagination of the pupils to create their own designs and if able carve from start to finish. Group work also offers multiple students to be rewarded by completing larger pieces of work. Alongside the pupil to aid learning we will carve and design using our experience and expertise from start to finish. We believe this helps to demonstrate the skills required to bring dead wood to life as artwork.

Global Education:

The Gambian Arts & Culture take a special active role to create links between schools and communities in the Gambia and Wales, UK; by bringing African arts and culture into global education in Wales.

We play our part in building a global common future with inter-cultural activities through the provision of educational services for schools and the wider communities with our skill and knowledge to share African arts and cultural activities.

Our aim is to support and work for global education by putting in place the necessary links for global integration through arts and cultural activities in schools. We promote better educational awareness for schools in the Gambia by encouraging Schools in Wales to make and create links with schools in the Gambia.

There are great opportunities for schools in Wales to link with schools in the Gambia through The Department of International Development. You can find out more about this on their website at www.dfid.gov.uk.

DFID Global school partnerships promote partnerships between schools in Africa and the United Kingdom. The programme provides advice and guidance, professional development opportunities and grants to schools that are using partnerships to develop a global dimension to their curriculum. The programme also provides schools with the opportunity to develop their partnership through reciprocal visits and curriculum development.
