Both organisation strive to create links with schools in UK and school in Gambia
Education and skill development Links. .

To achieve the objectives of the United Nations, Millennium Goals, both The Gambia and UK Government has introduced a scheme entitled, Global School Partnerships that is supported in the UK by the Department of International development (DFID). Within the objectives of this scheme there are projects entitled;

• Global schools links – (Class Room Connection) Partnership – Twining,
• International School Award
• Teachers` International Professional Development
• Global Gateway.
• League for the Exchange of Commonwealth Teachers
• Commonwealth Youth Exchange Council.
• Skill developing programmed
• Arts and cultural educational programmed.
• Community development.

It is with the commitment of Sowe Family Arts and Cultural Promotion, that you might progress this cultural and educational link with the school in Wales. This Gambian organisation will act to ensure;

• an agreed shared vision of working together
• the establishment of mutually agreed shared goals
• both partners are clear and in agreement about what is to be achieved
• that help is available to set out the base for working together
• areas of potentials curriculum collaboration are identified
• the effectiveness of the link is evaluated
• that issues of accountability and responsibility are managed
• a firm foundation for your link that will survive changes in personnel or other circumstance

GACEW are increasingly well placed to assist with the formulation of a linkage agreement with Wales and assist SFACP to ensure this agreed shared vision is found. To this end I recommend that you consider the following actions;
• schools should research and identify their own expectations of an agreement
• include the expectations of all staff and so develop a range of aims and visions

• schools might consider specific issues such as fund raising, event workshops and other educational activities that might include international exchange for teachers
• agree on a name for your link partnership scheme
• ensure that you have commitment from the school head or governing bodies

Both GACEW and SFACP will support the project with participation in fund raising activities, workshops’ and other educational events.

We are happy to inform you about our first Link between Ely and Caerau Integrated Children Centre in Cardiff with Kuloro Village Primary School and Children Centre in The Gambia.
